In 1970, A.E. Robinson's son, James Robinson Sr. (Jim), bought the family business and has continued the A.E. Robinson tradition.
Jim Robinson was the president, his brother, Al (now retired), worked in transportation, and another brother, Bill (also retired), ran the sheet-metal department in Dexter. During the oil embargo in the early 1970's, the gasoline supply tightened, and the dealers became disgruntled. There was not enough gas to go around, and the dealers were limited in the service they could provide. The embargo changed the industry and its philosophy on business. |
