The tank service valve works like a water faucet, opens to the left closes to the right.

The gauge on the tank reads in percent in tank. If you call for your delivery please call at 30%, and we will fill your tank the next time by. 40% is half full. We fill our above ground tanks to 80% to allow for expansion with increased temperature.
You should not smell gas under normal operation of your system.
